I had been using my emersion blender in the past but it’s too much stress for certain uses. This blender has excellent power and is well designed. At the base are two cut outs that help you grip and move the blender. Since it’s so heavy these handles are extremely helpful. It cuts right through ice; no problem. I’ve only used it a couple times so far but I love it. The cleaning feature is really easy too. Instead of running in through the dishwasher or washing it by hand, simply put a couple drops of dishwashing liquid and some warm water in the blender, run it, and it’s clean. Rinse out the soapy water and dry it and it’s ready to be put away. I also have a Kitchenaid mixer that matches my new blender and both sit out on the counter. Love them!

The ice drink and smoothie settings run a cycle of a couple different speeds in a short amount of time to first crush the ice and then blend or whip. Instead of having to stand there and play with pulsing and speeds, this blender already does the procedures you might have done manually with the 1950's style blenders our there.
