What backs up Bitcoin?
Bitcoin is not backed by any asset or physical commodity. Bitcoin does not require backing since it is sound money because of its inherent monetary properties that allow it to be a good store of value, medium of exchange, and unit of account.
Like all forms of currency, Bitcoin is given value by its users, supply and demand. As long as it maintains the attributes associated with money and there is demand for it, it will remain a means of exchange, a store of value, and another way for investors to speculate, regardless of its monetary value.
Unlike fiat currency, bitcoin is created, distributed, traded, and stored using a decentralized ledger system known as a blockchain. Bitcoin and its ledger are secured by the number of participants in its network and in the way it confirms and verifies transactions.
JP Morgan Chase
It offers crypto-friendly banking services to selected exchanges and digital asset firms, with a strong focus on risk management and compliance. JP Morgan Chase also provides institutional-grade research on crypto markets, aiding clients in making informed investment decisions.
Bitcoin was created by an anonymous person or group using the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. Nakamoto published a whitepaper titled "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System," outlining the concept of a decentralized digital currency. 1 The true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto remains unknown to this day.
Bitcoin's price increases when demand exceeds supply and decreases when demand falls. Other factors such as the cost of producing bitcoin through mining, regulations, news, and competition from other cryptocurrencies can influence the supply and demand and thus, influence the bitcoin's price.

Since 1971 the US dollar has been a fiat currency that is backed by the faith and credit of the US government, rather than by gold or any other tangible asset. The value of the US dollar is determined by a variety of factors, including economic fundamentals, geopolitical developments, and market sentiment.
However, some estimates can be made based on blockchain data and surveys of Bitcoin holders. According to data from Bitinfocharts, as of March 2023, there are approximately 827,000 addresses that hold 1 bitcoin or more, representing around 4.5% of all addresses on the Bitcoin network.
The gold standard is a monetary system backed by the value of physical gold. Gold coins, as well as paper notes backed by or which can be redeemed for gold, are used as currency under this system. The gold standard was popular throughout human civilization, often part of a bi-metallic system that also utilized silver.
Is Bitcoin linked to your bank account?
Once the Bitcoin wallet is set up and the KYC verification is complete, users need to link their bank accounts to the wallet. This linkage facilitates the seamless transfer of funds between the Bitcoin wallet and the traditional banking system.
Large banks like JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs and Bank of America have launched crypto trading desks, and wealth management firms, such as Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo, provide access to crypto through their products and funds.
Q: Why do banks doesn't really like the idea of crypto currency? A: Because the crypto currencies are a direct threat to the continuing use of the US dollar, the Euro, the Yuan, the Ruble, the Yen, etc. All governments want the ability to control their citizens through fiscal and monetary policy.

Bitcoin is not controlled by any single group or person. Instead, it is governed by multiple stakeholders — including developers, miners, and users. Developers write the code that makes Bitcoin run; miners validate transactions; and users put the software to work by trading, transacting, holding, and more.
Money is typically defined by economists as having three attributes: it functions as a medium of exchange, a unit of account, and a store of value. Bitcoin somewhat meets the first of these criteria, because a growing number of merchants, especially in online markets, appear willing to accept it as a form of payment.
We predict that Bitcoin will hold an average price of $60,000 in 2024, thanks to the Halving event, and settle more in 2025 with an average of $65,000. In 2026, we see Bitcoin trading as high as $90,000 by the end of the year. By 2030, we predict that Bitcoin could reach a high of $160,000.
It is theoretically possible. Bitcoin has been around for close to 15 years now, and although it has survived several dramatic crashes before making new highs, its extreme volatile nature puts investors at risk of losing all their money.
The supply of bitcoins is replenished at a set rate of one block every ten minutes. The system design reduces the number of new bitcoins in each block by half every four years. There are only about 2 million bitcoins left. Experts predict that the last bitcoins will be mined by 2140.
Billionaire Elon Musk is a huge fan of cutting-edge technology and is usually ahead of the curve when it comes to finance, but he's not a bitcoin bull. The co-founder of Tesla Inc. revealed on Twitter that he owns only a tiny fraction of one bitcoin token.
Is the owner of Bitcoin rich?
Nakamoto owns between 750,000 and 1,100,000 Bitcoin. In November 2021, when Bitcoin reached a value of over $68,000, his net worth would have been up to $73 billion, making him the 15th-richest person in the world at the time.
Governments Holding the Most Bitcoin
Governments across the world own an estimated 565,749 BTC, representing 2.69% of the total supply. The Chinese government reportedly holds 194,000 BTC that was recovered from the Plustoken scam in 2019. Members of the Ukrainian government privately hold roughly 46,351 BTC.
The Kuwaiti dinar continues to remain the highest currency in the world, owing to Kuwait's economic stability. The country's economy primarily relies on oil exports because it has one of the world's largest reserves.
International Debt and Financial Stability: As the reserve status of the dollar diminishes, countries holding significant amounts of US dollar-denominated debt may experience financial turbulence. Exchange rate fluctuations and potential defaults could undermine financial stability in both debtor and creditor nations.
The US dollar will never be replace as the official currency of the US. If you are referring the the dollar's status as the primary reserve currency of the world, that is unlikely to happen any time in the foreseeable future.
