Laura grew up in Thousand Oaks in California, where she was raised by her parents – her father was a mechanic who was also into auctioning, and Laura credits her passion for it to him.

She was attending auctions with her father while studying at a local high school in Thousand Oaks, and after matriculation, worked several jobs before venturing into auctioneering in 1988.

Starring in the “Storage Wars” TV show and other works

Laura’s husband Dan founded the American Auctioneers company in 1983 – Laura first became Dan’s business partner in 1996, eventually becoming the co-owner of the company, and currently serving as the company’s manager. American Auctioneers specializes in legal and foreclosure auctions, auctions of storage units, estates, fundraisers, and appraisals – Laura usually does two auctions per days and works six days a week.

She and Dan also own the StorageAuctions.net website, which provides self-storage auction listings in the US and Canada.

Laura called the police who taught her over the phone how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) – she managed to help her husband who later successfully underwent surgery, so far with no after effects.
