Heat pumps are the ideal solution for a wide range of applications and the most flexible and reliable means of electrifying heating and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Heat pumps offer both heating and cooling options, allowing you to be more flexible and diverse with your installation functionality. In response to the growing demand for improved energy-efficient systems, Trane is proud to offer a full range of air-to-water and water-to-water heat pumps that harness the most energy efficient technology available to reduce environmental impact.

Air-to-Water Heat Pumps

Air-to water heat pumps are very efficient and the best fit for buildings with low to medium heating temperature requirements in milder climates. They provide water between 35°C and 65°C.

Water-to-Water Heat Pumps

Water-to-water pumps are the best fit for colder climates and ensure that the outdoor air temperature has no impact on efficiency and capacity. For buildings with high heating temperature requirements, these systems can reach up to 120°C while using heat source temperatures as low as -20°C.

Cascade Systems

Cascade systems comprise two stages: the first consists of air or water source heat pumps (or heat recovery chillers), producing hot water at moderate temperature (25-30°C). The second stage consists of water source heat pumps, known as boosters, producing water at higher temperature (up to 120°C).

The cascade systems are ideal for high temperature heating systems (or hot water requirements) with a low temperature source such as air-sourced systems in colder climates. They are also ideal for applications requiring two levels of hot water temperatures or simultaneous demand cooling and domestic hot water productions such as hotels and hospitals.

Improving the energy efficiency of building systems means achieving an optimal balance between demand and supply for both heating and cooling. Trane’s multi-pipe units offer a compact and sustainable solution for numerous applications where simultaneous cooling and heating is needed.
