Chris Brown picked up his first victory as the head coach.
Georgia Brown scored the first goal of the season for the Bulls. Sadie Sider-Echenberg delivered a well-played ball into the box off a free kick. Anna Sutter redirected it with a header and the ball fell to the feet of Georgia Brown.
Georgia Brown added a second goal in the 34th minute. Brooke Fabri ripped a shot on goal, but the JU keeper made a diving save. Georgia Brown was there for the rebound and found the back of the net.
Micahela Hill put the Bulls up 3-0 as she blasted a shot at the keeper with a lot of pace, which trickled through the keeper and into the back of the net. USF took a 3-0 lead into the break.
Sider-Echenberg found a cutting Sarah Brunner just outside the box to start the second half. Brunner placed a shot to the lower, near post to put USF 4-0 in the 46th minute.
The Dolphins got on the board in the 47th minute on a Logan Gonzales goal.
The Bulls were unfazed and extended their lead to 5-1. Serita Thurton sent a beautiful cross into the box from the end line to the foot of Anna Sutter. Sutter used her left foot to guide the shot into a wide-open net.
The Bulls tallied 21 shots with nine shots on goal. Sider-Echenberg collected the first two assists of her career. Sutter and Thurton both notched their ninth career assists. Fabri earned her first career points with her assist.
Leire Herraez Gallach got the start in goal and did not face a shot. Logan McGruder played the second half in goal for the Bulls. She made one save and surrendered one goal.
South Florida's defense was stout and held Jacksonville to just two shots for the match. USF limited JU to only one corner kick.
From the Coach – Head Coach Chris Brown
"Our counter press and our reaction to win it back, and not let Jacksonville have any room, is as good as I've ever seen here at USF. That is a big step in the right direction. It keeps us closer to their goal and allows us to put more shots on target and hopefully score more goals.

The 2024 season will be the first with Chris Brown at the helm. He spent the last 17 seasons as the associate head coach. Brown helped lead the Bulls to three AAC regular season titles, three AAC Tournament titles, and eight NCAA Tournament appearances – winning a conference title every year from 2017-21 while making five straight NCAA appearances during that period. Brown helped lead the Bulls to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2010, a program-record 16 wins and program-best NCAA Tournament third-round appearance in 2019, both conference regular season and tournament titles in 2020, and a string of 10 straight seasons with 10 or more wins (2012-21). Brown has helped lead the Bulls to every NCAA appearance in program history, including two appearances in the second round, and three AAC Championship Game appearances.
As associate head coach, he mentored the program's first All-American and recent USF Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Evelyne Viens, who went on to earn three total All-America honors and an Olympic gold medal with the Canadian National Team at the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo. Goalie Sydney Martinez (2020) and forward Sydny Nasello (2020 and 2021) also earned All-America honors and were among the Bulls that have earned a total of eight AAC Offensive Player of the Year, AAC Midfielder of the Year, AAC Defensive Player of the Year or AAC Goalkeeper of the Year honors. Players he has coached hold every program's individual record and most, if not all, of the top 10 marks in every category.
