Black Ferns 7s reach women's rugby sevens final
Well, the Black Ferns 7s were just too good in that second half.
There's a reason they're defending Olympic champions and have booked their spot in the final.
They dominated that second half, running in three tries to USA's one, and win 24-12.
CanPortia Woodman-Wickliffe retire with another gold medal?
The second semi-final is between current World Cup champions, SVNS series Grand Final winners, and Rio 2016 gold medallistsAustralia andCanada, who stunned France last night in the quarter-finals.

Bad weather has Men's and Women's Surfing called OFF for the day
Large, stormy surf with unfavoarble winds have forced officials in Tahiti to call off the surfing competition for today.
Heats were suspended yesterday due to deteriorating wave conditions after the conclusion the Men's Round 3. Women's Round 3 has yet to be held.
The next scheduling announcement will be made later today at 5:45 PM local Tahiti time.

At a baking hot Stade de France, the first women's rugby sevens semi-final is underway between defending champions New Zealand andUSA.

Wang and Sun hold off Ri and Kim to win mixed doubles table tennis gold
Wow, thismixed doubles final has been a close one. Top seeds and singles world number one playersWang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha of People's Republic of China have not had it all their own way.
The lowest-ranked team in the competition,Ri Jong Sik and Kim Kum Yong of Democratic People's Republic of Korea, are their opponents – and are impressively sticking with Wang and Sun.
The two teams split the opening two games, Wang and Sun take the next two, then Ri and Kim win Game 5 to narrow the gap.
Wang and Sun bring up two gold medal points at 10-8 in the sixth. And when Ri sends a return long off the table, Wang and Sun can celebrate!
It's almost relief for them as they turn to each other and pump fists. China have won mixed doubles gold after missing out on this title in Tokyo at its debut appearance – the only table tennis event the powerhouse had not won, until now.
Earlier, Republic of Korea won bronze.

Coco Gauff (USA) knocked out of women's singles competition
What a turnaround by Vekic!
The Croatian was trailing 1-4 in the first set, but found reserves from somewhere to not only save three set points, but take Gauff to tie-break and then win the set!
In the second set, Vekic broke Gauff's serve in Game 6 before winning the next two games to take the match and advance to the next round.
Gauff, understandably, is upset at the result. She didn't have the best match of her career, suffering seven double faults and failing to score a single ace. But her Paris 2024 experience isn't over - she still has chances for a medal in the women's doubles and mixed doubles competition.

Spain beat Greece to record first win at Paris 2024
We've got four group games in men's basketball today, with the first - Spain vs Greece - wrapping up a few minutes ago.
Both of these teams qualified for Paris 2024 through the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament and were seeking their first wins at these Games, but it's Spain who come out on top 84-77.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, competing at his first Olympics, posted a monster line of 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 steals, but the loss means they are rooted at the bottom of Group A with a final game against Australia to come. Spain move into first place.
At the end of the group phase the top 8 teams from the combined ranking qualify to the quarter-finals.

What a game between France and Spain!
We've had a fantastic game in the men's hockey between Spain and France in Pool A.
France held a 2-0 lead in the first quarter before Spain came back to even the score early in the third. France took the lead again through Victor Charlet (FRA), only for Pep Cunill (ESP) to rescue a point for Spain nine minutes for time!
It finishes 3-3, which means France earn their first point of the tournament. They sit sixth in Pool A, while Spain are fourth. Only the top four teams advance to the quarter-finals.
